As of early June, Leavitt Lak road is not open and it's uncertain if or when it will. As of June 9'th, the Leavitt Lake snotell is reporting about 1 foot of snow, so if history is any guide, it should be open soon. If the road isn't open, we will camp along 108 and either hike to the lake or ski something off the pass.

There are several campsite options at Sonora Pass. Our first choice at Levitt Lake is no longer available due to a silly frog, so we camp near the fire road that heads up towards the PCT. If the 4x4 road to Levitt Lake is closed, we will be camping somewhere off 108 within a mile or so either before or after the Levitt Lake turn off. The preferred backup site is the Granite Beach site, which is somewhat hidden. The 4x4 road is entered here. Drop in to street view to see the entrance. A map of the Leavitt Lake area is here.
